I’ve been living in Japan, very near Himeji Castle, since 1990. I love antiques, especially samurai, so please let me help you find what you want.
Of course, there are other bidding services, but nobody offers you what I do:
What you get for your money:
* Custom-searching for your Samurai and interior items in JAPANESE, not English. I can find much more than any service using Japanese keywords.
* HUMAN translations of item descriptions. PC translators don’t work well….
* Asking of questions to the seller. Need more pictures? Want to know details?
* Strategic bidding. I’m not a machine bidding for you, and YOU don’t have to get up in the middle of the night to try to win! I buy Japanese antiques, in particular samurai, so I can often tell you what to pay for an item. I know the sellers and many of the other bidders and their tactics. I can get a better price for you. You can even bid together with me if you can be online at end time. Fun!! (Note: you cannot snipe or spike the bid on Yahoo. Auctions go on indefinitely until one man is left standing. I am there to make sure your bid isn’t outbid by a few yen.)
*Negotiation where possible. I know many sellers and can sometimes buy direct, off auction, saving you money! Sometimes they offer to me before putting on Yahoo!
*Safe repacking for overseas transport (items requiring unusually long packing time may require extra fee)
*Follow up/ trouble shooting when things go wrong (PO problems, etc.)
*Export of large items like tansu and screens which are over the Japan PO’s limits.
*Export of items over 200,000 yen, which require the Ministry of Culture’s permission. I will do this paperwork for you. Extra 6000 yen fee.
*Export of blades and guns! Other services prohibit bids on these items, and some refuse to do the paperwork – even after you bought the item! They tell you to find an exporter or they will throw it away!
*I sometimes offer items from local shops.
*You can sell your items through me!
