So how do you use these urushi descriptions and how do dealers use them? When describing an armor item, the type of finish should be first, then the material used, then the armor description. You will see the term "nuri" used but I do not use it as it seems redundant. Here are a few examples. Not everyone uses the same descriptions and not everyone uses them in the same order as I do but this is the way I recommend as it is the least confusing in my opinion.
This is described as a "tetsu sabiji 6 ken kabuto" with means that it is a treated iron helmet constructed with 6 plates.
This is described as a "sabiji urushi, tetsu zunari kabuto with a kuro urushi shikoro which means that it is rust colored lacquer, iron zunari style helmet with a black lacquered neck guard.
This is described as a "tetsu sabiji 6 ken kabuto" with means that it is a treated iron helmet constructed with 6 plates.
